Welcome to Coffee Time at Home!

Coffee Time at Home will be the place for me to share my journey, my experiences and my life as a new stay-at-home, work-at-home wife.

A new career as a stay-at-home wife, you ask? How can someone at your age start this new career? Well, for the first time in my life I am not working outside of the home. I have gone from working 60 hours a week to not working at all right now. The reasons why don't matter. What is important is I have chosen to become the wife and partner my husband needs to be successful in his career.

I have raised three sons and sent them into the world. They, in turn, have blessed me with a grandson, a wonderful DIL and a great DGF. I have lived in several homes and loved each and every one of them. Yet, I always felt somewhat delinquent in the homemaking department. I can clean. I can cook. I can run a household. I always felt something was missing. I came to realize I was missing the joy in doing these tasks.

Lately I have discovered the joy of caring for my husband and my home. I love to make breakfast for DH when we wake up in the morning. I always see he has a good lunch at work. I'm happy being able to cool all the dishes I've wanted to try for dinner. The sense of order, peace and quiet I have created in our home is an important job and I'm thoroughly enjoying the process of creating it.

I invite you to follow along with me as I being this new journey. I'll be sharing my experiences, tips and tumbles while I work at creating Coffee Time at Home.

I just wish I could stay at home. But it is not to be at the present time. Take care of yourself. I've added this blog to my bloglines. Are you going to keep the other one updated?

I also stay at home. Youngest is 15,oldest are married with kids of their own. I too enjoy keeping house although I can't get hubby to eat breakfast and his job doesn't allow him to take his lunch.
I will be here to read, will you keep the other blog?

Paula, It is good to hear that you are doing something that makes you and your hubby happy. I know what you mean when you start to lose the enjoyment in doing something. Don't ever lose that, stay happy!

It IS an adjustment at first -- quite an identity change. But being at home is nice, once you get settled into the new you :)
I've been home for almost ten years now.

Enjoy your new journey, I was a stay at home Mom for 25 years then had to return to the workplace. Did that for 12 years and now I have been retired since 1998 and this is the best job ever. LOL

I am very happy for you. I worked almost my whole life, and have been retired now for two years, most of which I was a caretaker for my mother. Now, it is just my husband and I, and I find that I waste too much time. My house has, except for a couple year adjustment period, always been pretty neat and clean, but I find myself backsliding. I will be a close follower of your new blog, and will be enjoying the encouragement and the blessing of being able to not be gone from home for ten or eleven hours every day.

I am totally envious ... I only wish I could be a stay at home wife and mom. Oh well, I will eventually get to retire ... right? I will be reading both of your blogs. Much success in your new career.

I just found your blogs (came from Cinderberry Stitches) and I have enjoyed your musings immensely. I quit my 12 hour a day job due to health reasons 18 months ago and now 'work' from home - probably 16 hours a day!!- with my longarm quilting business. It took a little while to adjust to not having to go away from the house to work. Absolutely love it and having the evening meal on the go when my dh gets home (delicious aromas floating around in the air) gives me a feeling of contentment. Is that what the olden days was like? thanks and keep smiling...
